Pearl of Great Price Friday

Scripture of the Day:

22 Now the Lord had shown unto me, Abraham, the aintelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the bnoble and great ones;
23 And God saw these souls that they were good, and he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my rulers; for he stood among those that were spirits, and he saw that they were good; and he said unto me: Abraham, thou art one of them; thou wast achosen before thou wast born.
24 And there stood aone among them that was like unto God, and he said unto those who were with him: We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and bwe will make an earth whereon these may cdwell;
25 And we will aprove them herewith, to see if they will bdo all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them;
26 And they who akeep their first bestate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second cestate shall have dglory added upon their heads for ever and ever.
27 And the aLord said: Whom shall I bsend? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And canother answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will dsend the first.
28 And the asecond was angry, and kept not his first bestate; and, at that day, many followed after him.

Historical Background:

The Book of Abraham contains Abraham's account of certain visions that he saw regarding the history of man, the development of the gospel, the pre-mortal existence of man and the divine aspects of the creation. It is his spiritual perspective on the Plan of Salvation according to revelations that he received.

Gospel Principles Outlined:

1) God understood the blessings that his children would receive in coming to this earth life to be tested.

2) In order to succeed in this life it is necessary for us to follow our leaders.

3) God prepared many prior to this mortal existence so that they would be able to assist His children in succeeding in the Plan of Salvation.

4) Christ committed to be our Savior despites Satan's attempt to change God's plan.

5) We worthily accepted God's plan and thereby have been able to receive bodies in this mortal test.

What I Learned Today:

I was especially moved by the fact that God has been carefully prepare the plan in such a way that we would have all the resources that we need to succeed. I love the fact that our Father in Heaven wants us to have every possible assistance in achieving the great mission that He has for us here on earth. It is up to us to trust Him and have faith in the path that He has laid out before us. We have been through this before. We are constantly facing the decision between God's plan or the adversary's plan and we will always have the Savior's Atonement there to help us to choose God's plan. However many times we become distracted or confused. We chose well before. We can do so again. We all can do so again.

Things I Will Implement:

I am looking forward to receive counsel from great leaders in the upcoming General Conference. I will seek to find 5 specific ways these leaders teach me to improve my faithfulness and will apply them over the following weeks until they become habits.
