Scripture of the Day:
Doctrine and Covenants 42:53
53 Thou shalt astand in the place of thy stewardship.
Great information is also include in the footnote.
Historical Background:
According to the Section heading-
Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, February 9, 1831. HC 1: 148–154. It was received in the presence of twelve elders, and in fulfillment of the Lord’s promise previously made that the “law” would be given in Ohio; see Section 38: 32. The Prophet specifies this revelation as “embracing the law of the Church.”
This section is a great summary on priesthood leadership and the power that comes in faithfully following the Savior.
Gospel Principles Outlined:
1) We must know what our stewardship is.
2) When serving in the Church, we must recognize the power of serving within our stewardship.
3) We will gain power when serving in our callings.
4) The Church is one of order.
5) Our success is limited if we operate outside our stewardship.
What I Learned Today:
The gospel principle of standing is an interesting one. To stand means to be immovable and unshaken. It means to be firm and dedicated. When we "stand in the place of our stewardship," we place ourselves in the best position to receive the greatest access to the power of God. In order to do our greatest in His kingdom, we must first learn what he expects of us personally and then "stand" firm in accomplishing that stewardship.
Additional Resources-
Things I Will Implement:
I have two things that I would like to do regarding my personal stewardship. First, I want to better learn my duties and create a plan to implement them. Second, I want to be able to develop the necessary training plan to assist those for whom I have stewardship to be able to fulfill their own stewardship.
